Check out what's happening this month at the Library!

St. Tammany Parish Library will be holding its inaugural Spring 2024 Community Art Show, at the South Slidell Branch from March 9 through April 6. The opening reception will be hosted on March 9 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Artwork to be on display was created by 10th, 11th, and 12th grade Northshore High School Talented Art students.

This art show is the first in a series that the Library will host featuring artwork by community groups. This series was developed as the result of a goal from the Library's Strategic Planning. This goal states the Library is to serve as a platform for creativity, innovation and community interaction.

Throughout the year the Library will host more Community Art Shows across several branches.

Calling all gardening enthusiasts! Save the date for March 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Covington Branch for Garden Fest. Special guests will provide lectures on ways to add color to your garden, details on pollinators, how to grow vegetables, and information on Louisiana native plants.

Activities such as a StoryWalk® and coloring sheets will also be available for young growers thanks to the Children’s Department.

Don’t miss this great opportunity to sprout your next gardening project!

The Causeway Branch is launching a new book club, "Shelf Indulgence Book Club," starting March 27.

The club will meet every 4th Wednesday from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to discuss and explore recent historical fiction, mystery, and nonfiction titles.

See the schedule of titles for each club meeting below:

The Library’s Children’s Services Department expanded its Storytime offerings this year. On top of the current variety of event choices for young children, the Library now has three new events that encourage creativity and trying new things. The Library has coined these the KIDS Story ABC Events. A, B, and C stand for Art, Build, and Craft.

These events all start with the telling of a children’s story, followed by an interactive activity such as painting, brick building, or crafting.

All events are created for children under the age of 5, are free and no registration is required.
