Imagination and creativity are on display at the Mandeville Branch starting with the opening reception of our Summer Community Art Showcase on July 13th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The opening reception has no cost and light refreshments will be served.

This showcase will highlight art made by STPL Adult Programming craft classes. Stroll through the stacks at the Mandeville Branch, show support to fellow budding artists, and learn more about our Adult Programming. Artwork will be on display from July 13th until August 10th.

As the summer heat beats down, most have moved away from the garden to the beach. Don’t let the sweltering sun make you give up on your gardening dreams! Now is a perfect time to plan for a fall garden.

Thanks to our usual mild winters, the growing season doesn’t necessarily end, depending on the plants you decide to cultivate. According to the LSU Ag Center, most fall gardening can start in August and September, but if you want to grow tomatoes, pumpkins, peas, and okra – you should be planting in June and July.
